Methane (CBM) and CoalMine Methane (CMM)

BDF's drilling rigs and highly experienced crews drill holes into coal seams and old mine workings to recover associated methane. Although drilling is commenced vertically the rock bit can be steered directionally towards the target. For coal bed methane the drill string is often steered horizontally within a coal seam for hundreds of metres. Additional lateral and multi-lateral holes may also be 'sidetracked' out of the 'motherbore'.

BDF has carried out CBM drilling in the UK, Belgium and Spain.

With our extensive experience of drilling and coring in coal measures we are able to provide our own mud engineering and coring services with considerable cost advantages to our clients.
